Yard and Nursery

This last weekend was spent at home completing our yard and nursery projects.   It was a complete success!

Rob finished the fence, tilled the entire yard and seeded it.   It's going to look amazing!   I am so impressed by my talented handy husband!

I almost have the nursery ready.   Mom came over Saturday and we sewed the curtains and crib skirt.   I'm impressed with our talents :)  I'm working on a few more decorative projects.   Hope to get those done.  I made a crib mobile that I need to hang, working on some wall art.   I'll post those pictures when I have them done!

1 Fabulous Year and Counting!

October 10th was our 1 year anniversary!   Time flies when you are having fun!

We celebrated with our annual trip to Hermann.   This year we extended the trip a few days since it was our first anniversary and our last trip before Baby Foster arrives.   We spent the first two nights in Hermann and the last two nights in Augusta.

I missed not sampling the wine with the best tasting partner in the world (Rob - if you didn't know).    But it was great to relax, enjoy the views and spend time together.   I'm looking at it this way - think how much fun I'll have sampling all the wines Rob picked out for us!    I did smell them and gave opinion that way.

Here are a few pictures of our vacation.  If you ever decide to go, contact us - we give great recommendations about the area!  I'd love to add all the photos but we'd be here forever!

Work Shower

Thursday, October 6th was my first baby shower.   It was hosted by my good friend and co-worker Sharon.   Several of the ladies and two guys from the office attended.    Sharon came up with the cute theme of "Fried Pickles and Ice Cream Social".    We had delicious fried pickles and an ice cream bar set up.   It was delicious!   I feel very blessed to work with such great people.   I received some very nice gifts and a nice gift certificate from several that did not attend.   We played 2 games during the shower - Bingo while I was opening gifts and another game where Sharon had asked Rob questions I had to guess how he answered.   It was a lot of fun!

Here are a few pictures of the event!:

Nursery

The Nursery -

There has been great progress done on the nursery.   We cleaned out the room (formerly Rob's office), I painted the room a lovely "Willow Branch" color by Valspar (has a green hue in the right light):

I shampooed the carpets and washed the windows and blinds.   Rob has put together the crib and the dresser and all the furniture is in the room.

My dad gave me the rocking chair I was rocked in.   My grandpa gave it to my grandma when she was pregnant, it was passed to my dad/mom and now to me!  I love that this will be the third generation rocked in it.   Mom had reupholstered it when I was born.   It was still in good shape but I decided to have it done again.   Found a great person in Springfield to reupholster it for me.   A project I'd love to have tried but not on Grandma's rocking chair!

Here are the before and after pictures:

The material is kind of plain but has all the colors in it that I've used for the nursery bedding - tans, greens, oranges, etc.

That's all I have to show now.   This weekend I plan on finishing up the crib bedding with the help of Mom :)   Plan on finishing a few nursery decor projects.

I'm excited to post those when they are done!

Fence and yard

Other news at the Foster Home - we have killed off all of our grass so we can re-seed it.   We also are adding a fence to the backyard.   Rob has been working on his days off to get the fence done.   We are so close now!    I have a few pictures of when the work started and I'll post the finished product when I have it!    You'll see our dead yard in the pictures.   It's nice to not worry about mowing!

Scott's Shower

First off, I can't believe I've been such a slacker on updating!    I have several posts to put up over the next few days.   I'll try to put them in order too!

On Saturday, August 20th, I co-hosted a baby shower for my friend Scott and her baby boy (who has since arrived).   My co-hosts were Kasey and Amanda.   I found an idea online for a mustache shower to welcome the little man.    I thought it was cute and grown up even though it kind of sounds dirty at first!

Scott had a great turn out and it was a lot of fun!

Here are a few pictures of the shower and the invite that Kasey designed.    We made all the decor and all the food.
